Quality and Access First
Our mission is to deliver K-12 math and English language arts (ELA) OER curriculum that is coherent and consistent from lesson-to-lesson, grade-to-grade, and across subject areas. We intend for this high-quality content to provide significant advantages over traditional content for English language learners (ELL) and students with special needs by intentionally designing the content from the outset to explicitly meet the needs of these populations. We are working alongside professional development partners to ensure that teachers are prepared to deliver the OER in a manner that will empower students to own their learning and support their deeper learning objectives.
We are developing openly-licensed, full-course K-12 Math and English Language arts against 3 critical measures of quality:
Alignment to state standards
Our quality assurance process includes regular review by educators in partnership with our colleagues at Achieve, Student Achievement Partners, and UnboundEd.
Explicit supports for English Language Learners and Students with Disabilities
Nationally recognized authorities on ELL accessibility, are partnering with the Collaborative to ensure that key principles are reflected in our materials
Engaging for both Teachers and Students
Our instructional design is being developed to be available in a number of formats to meet school districts where they are today, from print, to Microsoft OneNote, to HTML and Common Cartridge to ensure effectiveness, ease of use, and enjoyment for teachers and students.
